Huawei to open an information security lab in Bonn, Germany

Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, is setting the floor for the arrival of 5G technology. The United States, Canada, Australia, and India have cited “national security” while preventing the company from selling its 5G equipment to domestic operators. However, recent reports suggest that Germany has given access to Huawei.

The company will now set up an information security laboratory in Bonn, Germany next month. This is to facilitate the German review of the source code and win the trust of German regulators for Huawei 5G equipment.

Huawei says it is continuing to work on 5G tests with Indian carriers while the Indian government remains open and welcoming towards its networking solutions.

Germany’s 5G total investment may be as high as 80 billion euros (630 billion yuan). In contrast, the 2017 global 2G/3G/LTE hardware revenue was only $37.2 billion dollars (250 billion yuan). As the world’s largest supplier of telecommunications equipment, Huawei is bound to win 5G orders in Germany.
