Indian stock markets closed stronger for second sessions


BSE Sensex closed 0.4%, or 157.14 points, higher at 39,592.08 points, while the NSE Nifty 50 index rose 0.43%, or 51.10 points, to close at 11,847.55 points. So far, this year, the BSE Sensex and Nifty have risen nearly 9.7% and 9% respectively.

Vedanta, Power Grid, Sun Pharma, Yes Bank and Tata Steel were the most contributing stocks on Sensex advancing as much as 4.40%. BSE Midcap and Smallcap gaining 0.85% and 0.47% respectively. Most markets across Asia were in the red as investors awaited the US-China meeting on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Tokyo for a resolution of the trade dispute.
