Tasseography: Predicting the Future
Lifestyle: Tasseography, often known as reading tea leaves, has Chinese roots and was first discovered in 2737 BC by the emperor Shen Nun. Over mugs of tea, a group of friends began to talk about their lives. Following some thought on the patterns left by the leftover tea leaves in their cups, a monk nearby who practices tasseography predicted their life stories.
The art of reading tea leaves, also known as tasseography, is thought to have originated in Asia, the Middle East, and Ancient Greece; Middle Eastern societies are known to frequently drink coffee. However, the practice of reading tea leaves became popular in the 17th century after tea was brought to Europe from China.
