Arc Browser Review: Perfect for Busy Web Users

Productivity: The way we use the internet has changed dramatically. We switch between work and personal browsing, and we’re never able to find that one website we visited last week. Enter Arc, a new browser that aims to revolutionize your online experience.

Arc offers features that can help keep you better organized when compared to the most popular browsers. The privacy policy is really good; they don't know which websites you visit or what you type in your browser, and they don't sell your data to third parties for this review. I'll be showing this to you with a fresh install of Arc on this computer. When you're going through the setup process, you will need to create an account.

Arc Browser Review: Perfect for Busy Web Users

A User's Perspective on Arc

Arc isn’t just another browser; it’s an operating system for the web. It integrates standard browsing with its own suite of built-in apps, all accessible through a convenient sidebar. This means you can switch between tasks seamlessly, without ever leaving the browser window.

If you already have an account, you can just sign in. After creating an account or signing in, you'll have the option to import your passwords, bookmarks, most important tabs, and history from another browser. You'll also have the choice of making Arc your default browser; if it's your first time using it, I would recommend saying no until you get familiar with it. If you decide you like it, you can always make it your default browser later on.

Arc is built on Chrome, so just like other Chrome-based browsers, web pages should load properly, and you'll be able to use your favorite Chrome extensions with it as well. When you first launch Arc, you'll notice that it has a clean-looking user interface. Click on the box. Here at the top, you will find a pop-up window to do a search or enter the URL of a website. You can also quickly access the most recently opened tabs.

Tired of tab overload? Arc has you covered.

Traditional browsers can quickly become cluttered with endless tabs. Arc’s solution is “Spaces.” Think of them as customizable workspaces. You can create a separate space for work, another for online shopping, and even one for keeping track of your favorite recipes. Each space can have its own set of tabs and bookmarks, keeping everything organized and clutter-free.

But wait, there’s more! It also allows you to create different profiles. This is perfect if you use the web for both personal and professional purposes. You can have a profile for work with your work email and bookmarks, and a separate profile for personal browsing with your own logins and saved sites.

A Look at Arc's Innovative Browser Design

Design: Arc understands that everyone has their own preferences. That’s why they offer a high degree of customization. Don’t like the default look? Choose a theme that suits your style. Want to see things side-by-side? Enable split-screen view to work on two websites at once.

This web browser even lets you change the way websites appear. Want a website to be easier on the eyes? Adjust the colors and fonts for a more comfortable reading experience.

Privacy is a major concern for many web users. Arc takes privacy seriously. The browser is built with privacy in mind, keeping your online activity secure. It helps you organize your browsing, personalizes your experience, and focuses on privacy.

The privacy policy is really good; they don't know which websites you visit or what you type in your browser, and they don't sell your data to third parties for this review. I'll be showing this to you with a fresh install of Arc on this computer. When you're going through the setup process, you will need to create an account.

If you’re a student, a professional, or just want a more streamlined way to browse the web, Arc might be for you.

Here are some additional benefits:

  • Fast and Efficient: Arc is built on a powerful engine, ensuring a smooth and responsive browsing experience.
  • Intuitive Interface: The user interface is clean and clutter-free, making it easy to find what you need.
  • Always Evolving: Developers are constantly working on new features and improvements.

You can access other spaces indicated by the dots in between the archive and plus icons. So, let's go to the other space right now. In any space you've created, you can add favorites here at the top. Google Mail and Google Calendar are the defaults. When you first launch the arc, I'll add one of my favorite sites by creating a new tab and going to the website to add it to my favorites.

How Arc's Sidebar Enhances Your Browsing Experience

Streamlined Browsing

Just simply drag that tab up to the favorites and let go to get rid of a favorite, right? Click on it and select, remove favorite, and now it's gone with any website you have pinned to your spaces or favorites. You can take advantage of their peak feature, which lets you quickly preview links without leaving your current pin tab. In this example, I have msn.com pin to space one, and with this article I have opened, I'll click on a link to preview it to the upper right of the peak window.

You can close it out, expand it, or put it in split view—those are just a few of the features I wanted to share with you. As I mentioned earlier, the Arc browser lets you add Chrome extensions to enhance its functionality. Click the arc icon in the upper left, go to extensions, and then click Add Extension. This will take you to the Chrome web store, where you can find and add any extension.

More Than Minimalist

I highly recommend that people try out the arc browser, give it a week or two to get used to it, and in truth, it won't be for everyone. While the Windows version at the time of this recording is missing a few features that are available in the macOS version, I do find it to be a refreshing take on what a web browser could be.

If you’re looking for a web browser that can keep up with your busy online life, Arc is a great option. It’s a browser that puts you in control, helping you navigate the web more efficiently and effectively. So why not give it a try today? You might just find yourself wondering how you ever browsed the web without it.
