SigmaOS Review: Upgrade Your Browsing Experience

A Deep Dive into the Browser Built for Productivity.

SigmaOS isn’t your average web browser. It’s a browser designed for those who juggle many tasks and information online. You’re either drowning in articles as a researcher, building your next big idea as a founder, or bouncing between tabs as a content creator.

They are trying to imagine the way we browse the internet, starting off with the UI and how the browser looks and feels to me. It reminds me of the arc browser; it's very similar to that. Tabs are laid out in vertical format. We can group them together and collapse them to make them look more neat. We have all these tabs on the left-hand side.

Let me show you how it works. Let's pull up a quick search. You can do so by pressing the space bar, or kill here. We can do a quick Google search for quantum mechanics and hit enter. So now, if I open any of these links in a new tab, they will automatically be grouped together.

We can also collapse it by clicking here this way we can keep our tabs organized that's what I saw in opera you could also lock a tab so that it won't be closed accidentally that's something new another thing that helps a lot in managing tabs is workspaces so we can create multiple workspaces like one for personal one for work and so on so this way we can keep our tabs life organized this works a lot like profile zoom.

Workspaces: Organization on steroids

Imagine ditching the endless sprawl of open tabs. SigmaOS introduces workspaces, a feature that lets you group tabs into designated areas for specific projects or tasks. Need to research a new marketing campaign? Create a “Marketing Research” workspace and dump all your relevant tabs in there.

Working on a personal project? Create a separate workspace to keep things organized. Switching between projects is a breeze – just hop between workspaces with a click.

You can log into different accounts in each workspace, so you have to turn on separate cookies. For that, you can also turn on incognito and go browsing as well. That means you can have a workspace where you and your friend can browse the internet together. Isn't it awesome? But there's a catch here: you have to get the paid plan.

If you want this feature, yeah, a browser that has a subscription service has a free version that I'm currently using. It has all the features that I need, but if you want more than three workspaces and a co-browsing experience, then you can check out their paid plans, which is great news for students and teachers.

AI Assistant: Your Web Navigation Copilot

SigmaOS boasts a built-in AI assistant that acts as your personal guide on the web. Stuck on a research paper? The AI can summarize key points for you, saving you precious time. Need to quickly understand a complex website?

The AI can answer your questions directly within the browser, eliminating the need to jump back and forth between tabs. Feeling collaborative? This browser even lets you co-browse with others, making research or brainstorming sessions a breeze.

They give free trial to paid plans, so you can take advantage of that. After setting up a workspace, you can browse through the web swiftly with the quick search. You could also use the command bar to access the command bar. You can press command k here. We can do a lot of things, like create a new tweet, notion document, Google Sheet, workspace, etc.

You could also add reminders right here in the browser. Other than that, the program is also based on a single-key shortcut, so while browsing the internet, you just have to press the key, like f for focus mode, which will take the tab full screen.

Customization: Make it yours.

SigmaOS understands that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work. It gives you the power to personalize your browsing experience. Can’t remember what that article titled “Interesting Data on User Behavior” was about? Rename tabs for clarity. Want to make sure you don’t accidentally close an important tab? Lock it in place. Finished reading an article? Mark it as “done” to keep your workspace tidy.

For the extensions, you can be tension-free here. As the browser is chrome-based, we get all the extensions that work on Chrome. Also, the browser uses Webkit, which makes it perform better on Mac devices. Speaking of that, as of now, the program is only available on Mac, and they are working on Windows and iOS versions.

Split-screen Multitasking: Juggling Like a Pro

Multitasking is a fact of life in today’s digital world. SigmaOS recognizes this with its split-screen functionality. Need to compare two articles side-by-side? No problem. Want to keep an eye on your social media while writing an email? Easy. Split-screen lets you work on two webpages simultaneously. It boosts your efficiency and keeps you focused.

There is one thing that I personally felt with this browser: the utility is great, but overall, the browser feels incomplete. I mean, it requires some polishing to make it a perfect browser. And the second thing was the shortcuts: they can interfere sometimes when I'm writing something; maybe when writing something, the shortcuts might be turned off and create extra steps to access other than that.

It's fine in the browser; I feel like it's more of a mix of arc and opera, as they also feature their own AI. What do you think you should do?

Pros and cons

Arc VS SigmaOS Browser, Who Wins?

Starting off with the general UI of these browsers, I want to say that both browsers are very similar. I mean, the way things are laid out, we have all these tabs in vertical format on the left-hand side that we can group or pin if you like. We can also switch workspaces quickly from the sidebar, and on the arc, we can also access the library from the bottom that has media documents, downloads, etc.

I feel Arc is more polished as compared to Sigma; it has a very modern look and seems more snappy. You can also customize the way it looks, like color and texture, but you cannot do that in Sigma. Coming to the features, there are a lot of features in both of the browsers.

Both browsers have split-screen functionality if you have to refer to multiple tabs at once. Coming down to the exclusive features of each browser, we have many features in Arc. The first is that it has nodes so you can quickly jot down in between your browsing sessions, but something that I love is easel.

You can think of it as a creative whiteboard where you can bring down your thoughts, add images, do doodles, and even live feed from a website. That's cool, as it helps me stay updated with any part of any website I want.

Aesthetics and Performance: A Breath of Fresh Air

SigmaOS isn’t just about features; it’s easy on the eyes too. The interface is clean and intuitive, making it a pleasure to use. Performance-wise, SigmaOS keeps up its end of the bargain. Pages load faster, and the browsing experience feels snappy.

Is it Right for You?

If you’re a productivity warrior who craves organization and a streamlined workflow, SigmaOS is definitely worth a try. The workspaces, AI assistant, and customization features are powerful tools for those who juggle many projects and information streams.

Many people find it difficult to switch away from Google Chrome because of its large library of extensions, which you can download from the Chrome web store. The good news is that, just like many other Chrome-based web browsers, you can use your favorite extensions on Sigma OS as well.

Sigma OS is a very lightweight web browser, and it consumes a lot less resources when you compare it with Google Chrome, so the question here is whether you should be switching to Sigma OS. If you ask for my experience, I shall say that for me to completely switch to SigmaOS as my primary web browser, it first needs to be available on Windows as well.

Other than that, Sigma OS is still kind of in its early stages; hence, it could be a little bit buggy at times, like when the search bar often takes a little bit more time to load up. This can actually be a lot smoother; hence, I shall say Sigma needs a lot more work. As of now, I won't be switching from Brave or Firefox, but I can surely see myself coming back to Sigma OS as my primary web browser in the near future. You need some time to get used to Sigma OS, to be honest.

It’s important to note that SigmaOS is currently only available for Mac users. Additionally, some reviewers have mentioned that keyboard shortcuts can be a bit wonky at times.

A Promising New Player in the Browser Game

SigmaOS is a breath of fresh air in the web browser landscape. Its focus on productivity and unique features like workspaces and the AI assistant make it a compelling option for power users.
