James Gunn Confirms DCEU Canon in DCU

Entertainment: James Gunn reveals some specific happenings within DCEU will eventually form the canon in DCU, though only when they would be referenced in new DCU projects.

“There are references to things that happened in the past. And those references then become canon in the DCU because we mention them.”

It's really easy to understand. He says: Just watch the DCU starting with CC, and it‘ll be explained what is and what isn’t canon. That’s why some actors are back reprising their roles, and some are changed. You don’t need to watch previous shows or movies to understand the new ones. Maybe it is like just two separated universes in which some events remain the same.

It might mean even other media, including shows and animation. There are always flashes, monitors, and extant messing with the DC universe; it will be cool to see it revealed over time how all this came to be.

Multiple movies in the DCEU contradicted other movies. James Gunn is taking a more measured approach that actually treats what is canon with care. He can pick and choose what he wants to be canon from the DCEU, so not everything will need to be continuous.

The Flash movie would have been the perfect transition from the DCEU to the DCU. But they messed it up. Everything besides the James Gunn projects like Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and Blue Beetle (which isn’t his project but it seems to be the beginning of the DCU)

I just hope they find a really good explanation for all of this to not only convince the people who watched those past DCEU films and newcomers as well.
