Instacart raises $600M at US $7.2B valuation
Speaking of heavily funded unicorns that lose a lot of money, Instacart just secured a big new round. The grocery delivery company raised $600 million at a reported $7.6 billion valuation, in a round led by D1 Capital Partners.
Instacart, which launched in 2012, provides customers a personal shopper that scours grocery store aisles, purchases items and delivers them. The San Francisco-based company announced in September it would open a second research and development headquarters in Toronto.
