Tata Motors had a spectacular end to 2022
In December 2022, Tata Motors reclaimed its former position as India‘s second-largest automaker by passing Hyundai, capping up a spectacular 2022 for the Indian automaker. In comparison to the sale of 35,299 units in December 2021, the automaker reported sales of over 40,043 units, a 13.44 percent increase year over year.
The calendar year 2022 has been a remarkable year, according to the managing director of the passenger vehicles division Shailesh Chandra, “as we exceeded market growth and crossed the distinguishing milestone of 5 lakh units comfortably to post sales of 5,26,798 units.”

In the Indian car industry’s sales rankings, Maruti Suzuki India still holds the top spot. However, the Indian automaker’s year came to a disappointing conclusion. As a result of adjusting production to reduce dealer inventory, the company sold 1.13.53 units less last month than it did in December 2021 (1.26.031). As a result, companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Motors drove domestic passenger car sales, which rose by 23 percent to a record 37.93 lakh units in 2022.
