Tom Cruise sits on top of the Burj Khalifa during the filming of Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol (2011).

When Tom Cruise sat on top of Burj Khalifa

The movie's main photography ran from October 2010 to March 19, 2011. Moscow, Vancouver, Bangalore, Budapest, Prague, Chennai, Mumbai, and Dubai were all used as filming locations. With the use of special gloves, Cruise appears to be free-solo climbing in the movie, but in actuality, he was always connected to the Burj Khalifa by a number of wires.

The cables were digitally deleted by Industrial Light & Magic during post-production. Patton and Seydoux decided not to hire stunt doubles for their fight scene at the Burj Khalifa, following Cruise's lead.
